Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Renewal Peptide Serum, and what does it do?
It is a lightweight face and neck serum built to be the most active step in your routine. The "peptide" comes from silk peptides, which lay down an ultra fine, breathable veil that instantly smooths the look of texture and fine lines while helping skin hold onto moisture. Around that, the formula layers bakuchiol, antioxidant rich green and white tea, nourishing camellia and tallow, and prestige actives like caviar extract and hydrolyzed pearl. Together they hydrate, nourish, and support the skin barrier while helping skin look smoother, brighter, and more refined over time. Many customers describe their skin looking healthier and more radiant after consistent use.
How does the bakuchiol in this serum compare to retinol?
Bakuchiol is a botanical alternative to retinol. It supports the look of smoother texture, a more even tone, and firmer looking skin, and it tends to be gentle enough for sensitive skin and for daytime wear, without the dryness or peeling that retinol can bring. To be clear, it is an alternative to retinol, not a "plant based retinol," and it is not the same molecule. Several customers who told us their skin is too sensitive for retinoids have shared that they reach for this serum in the morning and still feel like they are getting some of the same smoothing benefits. As always, if your skin runs reactive, patch test first.
Can I use this serum alongside retinol or my other actives?
Many people layer bakuchiol with the rest of their routine without trouble, and some pair it with a retinoid at a different time of day, for example bakuchiol in the morning and a retinoid at night. Because everyone's skin and product mix is different, we suggest introducing the serum on its own for a few days, patch testing if you are sensitive, and then building it into your routine once you know how your skin responds. If you use prescription actives, it is worth checking with your dermatologist about layering.
How and when should I apply it?
Start with clean hands and freshly cleansed skin. Press one to two pumps into your palms, then dab small amounts across the face and neck and massage in with gentle upward, circular motions until it absorbs. Apply your serum before your moisturizer or balm so the heavier step seals everything in. It is lightweight enough for daily use, morning and night. Quite a few customers tell us they started with it at night, then added it under SVEDA's balm in the morning once they saw how easily it layered. A little goes a long way, so resist the urge to over apply.
Is this a natural serum?
The Renewal Peptide Serum is made with natural and naturally derived ingredients. We are intentional about that wording rather than calling it "100% natural," because a few of the standout actives, like the silk peptides and the fermented ingredients, are biotech derived. That is a strength, not something to hide. It is the pairing of botanical and bioengineered ingredients that lets the serum perform at a luxury level while staying clean, with no synthetic fragrance, no fillers, and no harsh chemicals. Customers who read ingredient labels closely have told us the formula is what made them stop and pay attention.
Can it help with the look of fine lines and aging skin?
It is designed exactly with that in mind. The combination of silk peptides, bakuchiol, and nutrient dense oils works to reduce the appearance of fine lines and support smoother, firmer looking, more radiant skin over time. It is meant to be used consistently, with the look of renewal building gradually rather than overnight. Customers with mature skin have been some of the most enthusiastic, describing their skin as looking plumper, firmer, and glowier rather than dull and tired, and noticing fine lines appearing less pronounced after weeks of regular use. Results vary from person to person, so give it time and stay consistent.
What does it feel like on the skin? Will it feel greasy or heavy?
It has a cushiony, milky texture that absorbs quickly and feels lightweight, not greasy or heavy. Customers consistently mention that it sinks in fast, leaves skin feeling smooth and soft rather than sticky, and layers cleanly under moisturizer, balm, and makeup without pilling. Because it is concentrated, one to two pumps is plenty for the whole face and neck. If you have a busy morning and apply makeup right away, give it a moment to fully absorb first.
