Sunflower Seed Oil
(Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil)
Sunflower oil doesn't get much attention in skincare conversations, which is a little odd given how well it performs. Cold-pressed from sunflower seeds, it's one of the better natural sources of linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid that a surprising number of people are deficient in, particularly those with sensitive or breakout-prone skin. That deficiency tends to show up as a compromised barrier, and restoring it often makes a more noticeable difference than adding another active.
The oil itself is light. It absorbs cleanly, leaves no residue, and doesn't clog pores. The natural tocopherols in it add a layer of antioxidant protection without requiring anything extra in the formula. It's also genuinely non-comedogenic, which matters more than that word gets credit for.
Its other job in our formulas is less visible, but just as important. It helps carry the other actives deeper into the skin rather than letting them sit at the surface. Good carrier oils don't just fill space in a formula. This one earns its place.
